Math Review for AP Environmental
Student Worksheet
The AP environmental science (APES) curriculum and test assumes that students have a mastery of a handful of basic quantitative skills:
- Writing large numbers in abbreviated form or scientific notation form
- Calculating and applying percents
- Calculating and applying percent change
- Unit conversions
- Metric system prefixes
These skills have to be interlaced within the entire course to ensure mastery, but a good place to start is this review packet. Each section covers one of the skillsets described above, shows an example, and uses data sets inspired from previous AP environmental free response questions (FRQs). None of the questions in this assignment require any prerequisite environmental knowledge.
Essential concepts:Unit conversions, percent, percent change, quantitative, metric system
Answer Key: Available as part of a environmental science instructor resources subscription.
